Creating Your First Page

(This tutorial assumes that you have already signed up for an account and have signed into your 350pages. If you haven’t, please visit www.350.com and follow the onscreen prompts to open your own 350pages)

You will start at the “Home” page. This is the first screen you see whenever you enter your account. It’s an area that provides you with instant access to the most popular and important functions of 350pages, as well as the latest news and updates on the service. As we don’t have anything created or uploaded into our 350pages yet, there’s nothing for us to edit, so we should start with the Create a Page option. Click once on the Create a Page option to be taken to the Template Picker. (Note – if you select New Page from the top menu bar this will have the same effect)

The Template Picker is a selection of professionally produced templates from the 350pages designers. Every one of your created pages will start with this process – you select a template family from our vast selection, and this will open a picker for that template family where you can choose your layout. Please select the layout as we have shown in the screenshots.

The Page and Graphic Editors

This is the page editor. As you can see, the template we selected has been fully loaded into the page editor, ready for us to customize. Each template consists of a background with several objects on the page, eg, text, graphics and images. We shall start by changing the heading to the name of our team, the great Baltimore Eaglehawks (a fictional team!). If you hover your mouse over the heading of the page, you will see a horizontal bar. These represent your editing options for this object. Click on the first option on the left – a pen – to open the Graphic Editor for the heading.

The Graphic Editor has four tabs. These tabs are an important part of every editing option in 350pages. They help keep the editing window as free from clutter as possible, as well as dividing specific editing options into categories, to make it easier and clearer for you to make changes to your pages. The initial Graphic tab is for the text, size and style options, which, conveniently, is what we want to look at. In the Main Text box, delete the ‘Page Heading’ text and enter “Baltimore Eaglehawks”. As you perform this action, you will see your graphic heading below change in real time. This is a preview of the change, as it will appear on your page. Change the size from 75% to 100% and you will also see it increase in size as well.

We will also change the color to reflect the colors of our team (brown and white). Click on the Color tab in the Graphic Editor. This graphic heading has one option - the Heading Color so you will now see the Color Picker. Note that other graphic styles may have more color options to choose from, in which case you would click on the relevant color square to start the color picker. Click on the small block of color to open the color picker. We want to have a nice white for the Eaglehawks text, so in the color spectrum or the suggested color chart, locate a shade of white and single click to select it. You will notice that when you hover over the color spectrum, the current color will show in a bar just below. Use this as your guide for the chosen color. When you’re done, click Save in the colour picker and again Save in the Graphic Editor, and the changes will then update on the page. For more advanced use of the Color picker read the Help.
