Creating our Second Page and Linking the
Site Let’s create the Fixtures and Results page. First, we need to make a copy of our existing page. Why would we do this instead of creating a new page? Because, we want to have a consistent look throughout our site, so we want to use the same layout, colors and settings of our previously created page. ![]() In your File Manager, you will see a checkbox next to your file. By clicking this checkbox, it will activate the options in the menu above (the majority of which you can see greyed out at present). Click on the checkbox corresponding to the index.htm page, and click on the Copy button in the menu. ![]() A box will pop up and ask you to confirm the destination of your copy as well as the name of the copy. We don’t need to worry about the destination for now as we don’t have a folder in our File Manager (this will be covered a little later). For the name, type fixtures.htm into the box, and click on the copy button. When the File Manager reloads, you should see the Fixtures page in the list. ![]() Click on the Fixtures.htm to bring up the page editor. This page looks exactly the same as our home page, right? But this is a copied version of it. You can see that our title bar, title text, colors and buttons are all present and correct, so we don’t need to recreate those. That’s the benefit of copying a page. What we do need to change are the text and images that we put in before. Delete one of the paragraphs and the photo by hovering over them and click the delete option. With the remaining paragraph, hover over it and click the pen to edit. Add the following text:
![]() With our text in, click the Save button.
You’ll see the text change instantly
on the page. All we have to do now is link
this page to our Home page, so let's
open up the Button Bar editor again. Hover
over the Home button and click on the edit
button. This will take you to the Graphic
Editor. Now click on the Edit Button Bar
button. ![]() In the Button Bar Editor, you will see two Link boxes, which can be used to link buttons to other pages and objects in our File Manager or another web address or an email address. In the Link Type, select 350page or object and this will then populate the Link To drop down menu with all suitable pages and objects that are in your filestore. Find the Index.htm page and select it, then click Save. With the button now linked to your Home page, our work on this page is done. All that time saved from not having to do the title and properties again will afford you the time to watch some classic Eaglehawk games from the 80s! Save this page by clicking on the tick under the Page Controls menu as before. You will see that the page is already named fixtures.htm from our previous copy, so we don’t need to change this. We shall not publish this page yet either, so make sure the page is unchecked as before. Click save to be taken back to the File Manager. We’ve got one more thing to do before our site is fully operational, and that’s to add the link to the Fixtures page from the home page. In the File Manager, click on the Home.htm to open the page editor for that page. Perform the same task you did for the previous link, except that you want to link the second, Fixtures and Results button to the fixtures.htm from the drop down list. Now Save the page, but again make sure that the publish checkbox is unchecked. You could have left the box checked to publish the page but we want to show you how to publish a complete website when it is finished. |
