Add a poll to your website
Polls can allow your users to share their
opinion in a simple and effective way. You
can run polls on anything you like; from
suggestions for what you should add next
to your website, through to polls on specific
topics on your website. Polls can be incredibly
useful tools to change the focus of your
website, or just fun diversions to add interactivity
to your pages. Whatever your reason for adding
a poll, there are several free services that
you can use, but we recommend www.alxnet.com. This guide will focus on using one of these
polls with your 350pages.
STEP 1:
Visit www.alxnet.com/services/poll/, and click on the "Free Sign Up Now"
button. Click on the Next button, and you
will be taken to a name and address form
which you should fill in accordingly. After
this you will be given your login information
and will have to choose a password and secret
question (just in case you ever need to retrieve
a lost password). Complete the signup by
clicking on the Continue button. You will
be sent two e-mails; one as a confirmation
of your signup, and another confirming your
username details.
Once you have received your account information,
visit toolmanager.alxnet.com and login with the details provided.
STEP 2:
Click on the "New" button for the
Poll, and enter a tool name. This name only
serves as a description for managing your
facilities, and once you have submitted this,
it will appear on your InterActives screen.
Click on the edit button to begin editing
the poll. There are a number of features
and customization options that you can change
in order to streamline your poll to the exact
way you want it. Once you have crafted your
poll to your chosen specification, click
on the HTML-Code button. This will present
you with a block of HTML under the 'Poll
Address' heading that you can fit into
your site where you like to present the poll.
Copy the HTML code, and then log into your
350pages and edit the page you would like
to place it on.
STEP 3:
When you are in the page editor, hover your
pointer over an item near to where you wish
to place the poll, and then click on the
Plus button to insert a new object. Choose
paragraph, and then click either above or
below. The paragraph editor will appear, and from there click
on the HTML tab. Replace the default text
with the HTML code, then click OK, and then
click on the tick under Page Controls and
save your page as usual. Your Poll will then
be live.
