Add an RSS Feed to your website

An RSS feed is a specially designed streamlined webpage, which usually delivers small snippets of news, or continual updates on a particular event. These are usually inserted into a newsreader on a computer so that the user can see the latest updates without having to visit the website. They are perfect for news websites who post several new articles per hour.

Many operators of small websites don't have the time to research and pay for all the news that is relevant to the content of their site, and so will embed RSS feeds from other, bigger sites onto their own webpages. 350pages works with RSSinclude to enable you to do this.

The first thing you have to do is find the address of the RSS feed. Many major sites will have them, so the best way to find them is to use Google to search for the site, followed by the term RSS. So for example, retrieving a news feed from the BBC would probably require the term "BBC RSS". Once you have the address of the RSS feed, visit www.rss-info.com/en_rssinclude-simple.html and scroll down to the grey box that starts with the RSS URL box. In here, paste the address of the RSS feed.

The next options are mostly customizable for your own personal preference, although two options should be noted. The Table/Iframe option should be ideally extended to 400px to ensure that all of your news appears without being obscured, and the Integration option should be set to IFrame. With all of that done, click on the Create HTML option, and the code you need should appear in the box below. Copy this code.

In the 350pages editor for your webpage, go to the Object above or below where you wish to place the RSS feed and select the Insert option on the Object's editor bar. From the menu select Paragraph, and click on 'above' or 'below' (or 'replace' if you want to swap the currently selected object for your calendar) and this will bring up the Text editor.

You will see three tabs at the top of the Text editor. Click on the HTML tab, and 'paste' the code for the RSS feed into the box. Click Save, and the RSS feed should appear as you want it. Save and publish the webpage as you would normally so that everyone on the web can see it too.
